Well we played Sugar Tree last Saturday.  It was COLD for the first 3 holes but warmed up nicely after that.  Russell, as usual, played pretty well.  He shot an 85, which pretty much smoked the rest of the group.  Bob Tole played with us, and it was really nice to have him with the group.  I think Bob came in 2nd with a mid 90's score.  Joel and I stunk up the course.  I shot a sparkling 103 and Joel played so badly for him that he even lost interest in major cussing and club throwing.  I think he shot 99.  Ed is in Pagosa for the balloon festival, which is awesome to see.  I think this week the regular foursome are playing Split Rail.  Hopefully I can get back into the 90's.

  1. Sugar Tree is an awesome facility, with a great staff, course layout, and risk/reward options for shot making. You must hit it be able to draw and fade your shots. Danager awaits each hole, weather its water, sand, or trees. Hitting it in the fairway is not always a safe bet. You need to hit it on either the right or left side of the fairway to have a good look to the green. Its a shot makers course for sure! The greens are extremely fast and a little bumpy, but fair!
Elevation changes on several holes makes club selection more important than most courses in our area. For these reasons, Sugar Tree is in my top five favorite courses we play.
If your game is tee it and rip it, Sugar Tree may bring you to your knees. The driving range is convenient and has good teeing areas. If I could change one minor thing, it would be the putting green. It is small and does not handle more than three putters well!
Overall......an excellent place for a round of golf. I will give it a A!
